2014 Annual Quilt Raffle: “May All Eagles Fly!”

Special Thanks to Bayside Quilters of the Eastern Shore for their generous donation of this beautiful quilt to use for the quilt raffle!  The quilters have been so generous over the years and we are very, very grateful for their caring and kindness toward the men and women (and their families) at Walter Reed/Bethesda who have sacrificed so much in their service to our country.

Update August 18, 2014

Congratulations to the winner of “May All Eagles Fly!”

The quilt is boxed up and ready for mailing. The winner wishes to remain anonymous.

Thank you, Jan, Helen, Barbara, Mary, Linda, Jim, Torina, Julie, Lynn, the anonymous supporter on behalf of Sequoya High School in TN, and the anonymous supporters in Maryland and elsewhere.  It is because of supporters like you that the luncheons continue to happen, and they are very much appreciated by the Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen we serve.

We’re very grateful for your support.

Funds raised by service branch:

Marines: $485

Navy: $165

Army: $70

Air Force: $50

Not specified: $10

————————————

Total: $780.00

Update August 16, 2014:

We cancelled the luncheon on the 14th due to a very last minute venue change – thought it was best to do some recon on the new place.  Jane met with staff from the USO, the Warrior Family Coordination Cell, and stopped by to say hello to the Marines with the Wounded Warrior Regiment in Bldg. 62.  We’re excited about the good things to come in the future!

We’ve emailed the winner of the quilt and are waiting to hear back before we post the name.  If we haven’t heard back by tomorrow afternoon we’ll post it anyway.

Thank you for your patience, and thank you for supporting such a worthy cause.  We’re very grateful for your support.

  1. I am a retired naval officer. I grew up in Easton. I now live in Leesburg, VA, and do volunteer work with wounded veterans.

This is a beautiful quilt and a great cause. I will be buying raffle tickets, but I wanted to say thank you for what you are doing, and, once again, I find yet another reason to be proud to be from the Eastern Shore.

    Sincerely,
    Ben Willey
    Commander, JAGC, USN (Ret.)

  2. Thank you for your service, sir, and for sharing your time with wounded Veterans.

It’s an honor to serve the Warriors and their families at Walter Reed. The Eastern Shore and particularly Talbot County folks have been very supportive of the luncheons. We’re very grateful to them.

    Best,
    Jane
