Welcome to   Jane's Blog
Since becoming a Marine mom in 2003, I have learned how important it is for military parents to connect with other military parents, not to believe everything in print or on television, and that every one of us has a strength deep down inside to draw upon when we need it most.
My hope here is to honor the troops and to share online resources, letting you know that you are not alone.

I feel so lucky to live in the United States of America. A friend sent me this video for the 4th  - "God Bless the USA" sung by Lee Greenwood. Years ago, Mr. Greenwood was at a local Fourth of July celebration and sang this. Who knew then where we would be today...

FALLUJAH, Iraq  Staff Sgt. Theodore Montgomery, a squad leader in B Company, 2nd Battalion 142nd Infantry, 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, directs traffic during recovery operations after a vehicle breakdown on the outskirts of Fallujah, June 24. Montgomery, serving in his second tour to Iraq, has been on the road executing the convoy escort mission to a tune of more than 20,000 miles in only seven months. Photo Credit: ?

This soldier, and so many others, were "over there" while we were barbecueing.
I am grateful for men and women like him.

Until next time, continued prayers for our military and their families.

A friend pointed me in the direction of the Federalist Papers. so I've been reading the 85 essays by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay that outline how the then new government would operate and why the type of government we have today would be the best choice for the United States of America.

Do they still teach about the Federalist Papers and our Founding Fathers in the public schools today?

A good day to read
